The 2nd Pinot Noir release from Blakeslee Vineyard Estate, is 50% Dijon 115, and 50% Pommard. All Chehalem Mountains AVA. This wine displays complex aromas with hints of white truffle, mushrooms, violets, and blood orange. This Burgundian-styled Pinot Noir is balanced with a supple texture, and has vivid acidity with ripe fruit-forward notes of dark cherries, plums, and rhubarb. While immediately accessible and enjoyable now, we expect this wine to age elegantly over the next five to seven years.
The 2007 harvest occurred about 2 weeks later than average. A cool June and July was thankfully followed by a warm and dry August and September. We had intermittent sun and rain during the month of October, but luckily the fruit held its own during the rains. The fruit had almost no botrytis while getting excellent flavor development! Wine making decisions were made entirely on expressing and promoting the natural characteristics of the fruit that the vineyard produced from year to year, and the vintage itself.
