2009 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir 5L

The 4th Pinot Noir released from Blakeslee Vineyard Estate, is 100% Pinot Noir, 30% 115, and 70% Pommard. All Estate Fruit and Chehalem Mountain, AVA. This wine displays complex aromas of ripe strawberries, violets, orange peel, mushrooms, and the earthiness of the forest floor. This Burgundian-styled Pinot Noir is soft and supple, with a round and generous mouth feel. Fruit-forward, with notes of dark cherries, blood orange and toasty oak, the soft acidity makes for a wine that can be enjoyed with food or on its own. While immediately accessible and enjoyable now, we expect this wine to age elegantly over the next 5-10 years.

Overall, the timing of he 2009 growing season was fairly typical for Oregon. A warm and dry summer gave way to several high heat spells in late August and early September. This pushed sugars up earlier than usual, but still required further time and patience to wait for flavors to catch up in the ripening process. Picking was is line with average Oregon vintages.
