2014 Estate Reserve Chardonnay

Pretty vanilla oak, rich floral honey, nutmeg and cinnamon apple, crème Brule’, and toasty brioche with orange zest and white peach envelop the nose and mouth. Rich creamy round texture with focused acidity builds to a firm full month feel with and lingering finish of honeyed perfumed fruit. This Burgundian-styled wine can be equally enjoyed on its own or with a meal.

2014 Yamhill Carlton Chardonnay

Pretty pale lemon to straw color leads to a nose of candied violets, grapefruit and a hing of vanilla. Medium tart on the palate leads to a creamy finish.

2014 Willamette Valley Late Harvest Riesling

At 5.6% residual sugar and 11.1% alcohol, this is a bright, perfumed and versatile dessert wine, lighter in the perception of sweetness than many late-harvest wines. It would also serve as an excellent pairing with rich, creamy appetizers, because the fresh acidity will beautifully cut the creaminess of cheeses or foie gras. In the glass, the aromas of baked apples, apple pie or Gravenstein applesauce dominate; on the palate, the racy acidity balances the sweetness, which makes it a natural with combinations such as Rogue Valley blue cheese and Harry & David’s fabulous southern Oregon pears.

2014 Willamette Valley Riesling

Using Chehalem Mountain fruit sourced from the Nicholas vineyard, this Riesling is off-dry, with only 1.4% residual sugar. Sweet, subtle floral aromas suggest something between honeysuckle and honey, with undertones of apricot and white peach. The palate is balanced with good acidity and just enough sugar to bring the fruit forward: look for lemon and Granny Smith or Pippin apple and firm, tart peach.

We’d pair this with a roast pork tenderloin stuffed with caramelized apples, a brined pork chop topped with grilled nectarine, vegetable curry with a touch of spicy peach chutney, or choucroute à l’Alsacienne with fresh sauerkraut.
